I’m Brenda and I’m from New Zealand – the most amazing little country down the bottom of the world. I live with my husband and our 2 young adult daughters in Riverhead which is on the outskirts of Auckland.
As it happens, Joy is my middle name – but it’s also a big part of how I live and love life. So many of the everyday things in my world bring me joy and I would love to share these with you.
Trust me – I’m nobody special! Just an everyday wife, mum, daughter, sister, aunty and friend with a love for finding the joy in life.
This doesn’t mean it has all been wonderful – I have had my share of problems and heartache. But I choose to live my life with joy by seeing the glass as half full, taking time to smell the roses, enjoying the journey. There is beauty and joy everywhere if you look for it and keep a positive mindset. We only get one shot at life so we may as well enjoy it.
Some of the things that bring me joy are my faith in God, family, travel, fashion, outdoors, food, friends, home, work, music, and also the little things like a coffee with a friend or a movie or just having a good laugh!
An extra addition to my joy in the past few months has been losing a lot of weight and I’m loving fitting into clothes I haven’t fitted for years, cooking healthy food and feeling more energised. I had weight loss surgery by way of a gastric sleeve and it was a great decision for me.
I would love to share more of my journey with you through a bit of a gastric sleeve blog as this has been my latest source of joy – but this isn’t all there is to me. It doesn’t define me – I have been around and living live with joy for many decades now! So I will writing about a lot more than just my weight loss…..I also want to share about the things I mentioned above – the things that bring me joy.
I genuinely love people and have the heart and capacity for more friendships in my life – whether in the real world or via the internet. If I can help people by sharing a bit of my joy via this site, that would mean the world to me.
My goal is to help people take time and enjoy the journey and increase their joy. There is so much negativity and doom and gloom in this world and I want to help you shine the light on all that is good and what we can be thankful for.
If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.
All the best and I hope you find some joy in your day today,
